In the last few months, I've received tons of questions from young girls & women about irregular periods/disturbed menstrual cycles.🩸🚫

So, thought I'd address some general FAQs here.🙂

✨ Late periods, i.e., bleeding after a few days or weeks of your actual date is also okay. As long as you're having a normal period... it's all that matters.
✨ Your period can last for 3 to 7 days. But on average, most women bleed for 5 days.
✨Cramps usually begin a week or few days before your period date and last for the first 3 days.

Some women also experience cramps in the middle of period. It happens when an egg sac suddenly ruptures. The pain should last for a day max.

If it's longer, visit the doctor.
✨ You might also develop abnormal period pain after the first intercourse because of pressure on the cervix.
✨ Women miss periods for many reasons besides pregnancy. For instance:

🔶Hormonal imbalance
🔶Reproductive organ problems such as cystic ovaries
🔶Nutrients deficiency (such as low iron or anemia)
🔶Stress
🔶Menopause
🔶Medication (such as birth control or hormone pills)
✨Spotting refers to bleeding outside of your menstrual cycle. This blood is light pink or red. If it happens frequently, you suspect pregnancy or experience any abdominal pain, get it checked by an obgyn.
✨ Many women also experience heavy or prolonged bleeding, even after the usual 7 to 8 days. This condition is called menorrhagia. Could happen for many reasons.

Get it checked ASAP! It causes severe lethargy & iron deficiency & needs to be stopped immediately.
✨ Per my observation and experience, our lifestyle choices have a direct effect on periods. The healthier you eat, the normal you bleed. Fluctuating weight will disturb your cycle. Exercises or any physical activity balances menses.
✨ You can take over the counter medications for period cramps but it's best to wait it out.

I know, I know, it feels horrible. But that's the best practice, in my opinion.
✨Some women go old school & rely on home remedies or herbal teas for normal menstruation. It's alright, whatever works for you. But please consult a doctor first, especially if ur taking modern medicines as well. It might cause adverse reactions or hormone overdose.
✨ Some amazing herbal teas to balance the menstrual cycle or hormones:

🔶Lady's mantle
🔶Red clover
🔶Red raspberry leaf
🔶Ashwagandha
🔶Cinnamon
🔶Turmeric
🔶Green tea
🔶Peppermint tea
🔶False unicorn
That's all for now. I'll keep adding to this thread in future. :)

Stay healthy ❤️
✨ Missing your period ONCE or TWICE a year isn't a big deal. It's okay. It happens. No need to freak out. ❤️

But if you miss your period for more than 3 months, then it's a problem. This condition is called amenorrhea or absence of periods.

If this happens, visit a doc ASAP.
