While in the drive thru at KFC, I noticed an older man in the car line sitting on his Electric scooter. I chuckled at the sight. It caught me off guard. After waiting 25 mins in the drizzling rain and reaching the window, the store refused service to the man.... (thread)
It was then that I realized the store refused service to this man because he wasn’t in a car, but was in a scooter. A scene unfolded, a woman in a car behind the man jumped out and started yelling, cell phone cameras where pulled out. Yelling was all around.
The woman who was yelling at KFC offered to get back in her car, drive around, wait in line again and order for the man.
KFC decided to serve the man in his scooter, in the rain not because it was the humane thing to do, but because a community of strangers stood up for him
The woman who realized KFC had refused service, never left the stranger in a scooter’s side until the man was served his food.
This is the America I love. These are the moments that make me proud. When we unite and do what is right for those that can’t.
- The KFC had its store front locked- no one was able to walk into or drive a scooter into the store- the gentleman in an electric scooter was forced to order his food in the drive thru-
He lived in housing near the store, and doesn’t drive. He wasn’t in the wrong- @kfc WAS.
