Especially where it concerns lust, you will hear more advice on how to avoid it e.g. get married but never how to actually deal with it when you have thoughts, urges etc.

Marriage is not the solution for dealing with lust but that is often what is preached.
You are a whole person, and your fleshy desires are part of you. Yes they are a part that needs to be dealt with but it is not outside of you.

Compartmentalising yourself is the fastest way to kill your spiritual journey.
There is also the fact that people often want to micromanage the manifestation of sin but not the root. If you don't deal with the root, it will keep happening.

Roots can be anything from an incident of sexual abuse, to being exposed to negative imagery.
