Hm. On fan art depicting characters as Halloween monsters, I have a few opinions. Aesthetically, yes, being a vampire would suit Edelgard, and I do love Vampire-Edelgard fan art, but I think we should consider how similar she is to Adam Frankenstein.
Adam is the by-product of twisted science, an arrogant mind in defiance of god, using the parts of deceased human beings like clay. Edelgard is also the by-product of horrid scientists literally planning to usurp heaven with their creation forged with blood from a dead being.
Both Adam and Edelgard eventually find themselves in conflict with the people who created them. Albeit in different ways. Victor Frankenstein finds his creation horrid, while Adam finds himself beautiful. TWSITD view Edelgard as a perfect weapon, Edelgard views herself as ugly.
Both Edelgard and Adam have very Byronic personalities, finding it difficult to adapt in larger society, although again for different reasons. People find Adam monstrous and attempt to hunt him down, Edelgard finds society repulsive and attempts to reshape it.
Like, it is clearly far from a 1:1, but I think it is worth consideration. Aesthetically she is closer to a vampire, the colours of black and red and association with death and blood. Thematically, however, I would argue she is closer to Adam Frankenstein.
Like, a big part that decides how much one sympathizes with Adam or Edelgard is deciding which is more at fault, the monster in question or the society they find themselves in (as Adam and Edelgard both do some messy things in their respective stories).
Also, this thought has been spinning in my brain for a while, so I might have made a post about this earlier and forgotten about it. Apologies if this is the case and I have been filling the feed with repeatings of myself.
Also, I am totally open to being told how wrong I am. I am a noob when it comes to analysis of the Modern Prometheus, embarrassingly I have put more thought into the anime video game. This thread is purely for discussion, and ‘OP is an idiot’ is a valid topic of said discussion.
