South African women are living through extremely dangerous times, where GBV is alive and thriving.

Our women are getting abducted, abused, raped, harassed and murdered.

We are living through a nightmare that is our reality as women in this country.
With all of the above in mind, I find it horrendous that massive service providers/companies don’t have certain mechanisms in place to help women who come face to face with GBV.

They should be doing everything within their power to safeguard and advocate for our women.
Long story short, my contract number has been compromised and i need to change that number to feel safe.

However, @Vodacom does not provide you with that option - without jumping through a few hoops first.
After a few calls with different agents, all of them said the same thing: you have to cancel your contract to change your number.

Translation: I have to cancel my contract and pay a hefty fee to change my number so that I can prevent harassment.
Yes, this might sound like a petty or minor problem to many of you; especially men because why don’t I just get a prepaid sim in the interim?

If that’s what you’ve concluded after reading this thread, you are part of the problem.
You can’t just preach about the wrongfulness of something; you need to ACT too.

So many brands have been driving campaigns centered around GBV, yet they still have mechanisms in place that work against women experiencing GBV.

Do better.
It’s just really frustrating that women are constantly penalised for GBV.

Our lives are made so much more difficult because of men and insensitive brands. As a woman, I am tired.

Anyway, @Vodacom please check yourself and do better.
