Starting a thread to show what I consider to be parts of the Bible that Christians don’t like to talk about. The Bible is not a good book, it doesn’t have good morality. It is not useful to organize any sane society.
It contains terrible commands and injunctions from a supposed perfect being. If you see some of them in any other book or being espoused by any other person, you’ll dislike them greatly.
If you want the context, read. Don’t tell me I’m taking it out of context when the context is an all-good God commanding evil. So, enjoy..
1. Slavery. An all time favorite. God explicitly allows slave ownership and lays down laws that sound rather tribalistic for a so-called Ubergalatic judge of the universe.
2. Genocide. This example is not the only place where Yahweh commands the annihilation of a people group. This one has the added bonus of Moses allowing sex slavery. Wonder why, “Though shall not kill is in the 10 commandments”
3. Sexism and Misogyny. The Middle East was a patriarchal society and the Bible God was no exception. He however took it to a much greater length. The New Testament is not better than the old, it is not an upgrade in morality either.
The New Testament also condones slavery. See Paul, the most prolific writer of the Bible fables.
4. Child sacrifice. This one is just flat out crazy. I knew the Bible was a collection of implausible stories, didn’t also know it was full of straight up evil shit.
5. I call this, “so much for free will and the post-nut homicide”.
6. Failed prophecies of Jesus. You thought I’d forget about how Jesus lied to his disciples. Lol 😆 Paul was still holding out after knowing that the people he preached to had died before Jesus came. Brilliant fiction writer.
7. Homophobia. Perhaps one day, Christians will say that it was the Bible that ended Homophobia. Till that day, enjoy the Bible’s morality on same-sex issues. Trust that the Bible equates Homosexuality with murder. Impressive morality.
This is not an exhaustive list by an stretch of the imagination. You know I could go on and on, and I will, just enjoy these for today. Books have been written on how terrible this Yahweh character is. https://ffrf.org/publications/freethought-today/item/26141-the-10-worst-old-testament-verses
Of course, my sources are the Holy Bible and Wikipedia.
