📃 @mhclg again the worrying change in tone in response to @CommonsHCLG Select Committee report
"(leaseholders) should be protected 'as far as possible' from unaffordable costs rising from past safety defects".
What happened to "leaseholders shouldn't pay"? https://twitter.com/mhclg/status/1301502570393935878
"The Government is clear and unwavering in its view that it is unacceptable for leaseholders to worry about cost of fixing historic safety defects"
Yet thousands of people facing unbelievable stress of interim costs, valueless flats, huge repair bills, funding 1st come 1st serve
"70% of ACM affected buildings completed or in process of remediation"

FACT CHECK:
➡️ only 14% of private blocks have completed works.
➡️ Some that have completed now struggling to get an EWS1 sign off. ➡️ 49% of private blocks still haven't started remediation
Referencing the £12.2bn investment for Affordable Homes Programme is crass when the funding to fix the current housing stock is so low.

Stop giving money to offending developers till they fix the issues with their unsafe buildings!!
#leaseholdscandal
#endourcladdingscandal
Engagement with leaseholders will be a stipulation of funding.
➡️ This is good.

Can we have an update on the people who used your form to report their building managers would not apply for funding?
"We are currently gathering data on interim costs such as waking watch"

No need! We have a table showing this, the issue is not provider's, the issue is WW is not fit for purpose + no one is taking responsibility to investigate better options as leaseholders are footing the bill
"The Government recognises there have been 'a few' cases where buildings insurance for high rise blocks have become difficult to insure"

This issue is increasing, several buildings have had NO insurance at all. Premiums increasing monthly, from £30k now to a number over £700k
The insurance industry, brokers and managing agents, and Government through IPT, make big money and commissions on this.

Please fix this before more buildings are affected. Losing your building insurance has severe consequences for leaseholders.
"The EWS1 process was designed by @RICSnews... Who are now looking at ways to support correct prioritisation"

Seems like a very weak response to an issue which is trapping thousands in their homes. This should be top priority, getting to the root of accurately assessing risk
On mental health: "The Building Safety Bill contains a requirement on the Accountable Person to make building safety info available" plus mention of increase in MH funding.

Nothing specific to address 9 / 10 people affected by the #claddingscandal have had their MH deteriorate
