Why Dr. Jang Gyeoul is not as cold as winter, a long thread.

I have compiled most of Dr. Jang Gyeoul’s scenes to give a detailed explanation… hope you take the time to read, thank you.
Episode 2 Pick me Pick me Scene: In this scene, we can see how Dr. Jang is working hard as the only resident for 13 professors. It is narrated that she is lucky compared to other residents in other departments because her professors treat her as their daughter, -
but in reality, she has to work for 13 professors by herself. Dr. Lee, together with the other professors have always been nice to nice to her and treats her as their daughter because they know how hard it must be for her to do things alone.
We can see how Dr. Lee takes care of her by giving her a purifier, a convenient store sausage, and real sausages in the cafeteria.
Episode 2 Dr. Bae and Nurse Lee: Dr. Bae and Nurse Lee are casually talking as friends while eating cookies, when they saw Dr. Jang they offered her some and she declined her offer. Knowing Dr. Jang who loves food more than anything, this is a confusing moment.
Why is Dr. Jang refusing the cookies? It is funny how she even said that she doesn’t like sweets (ehem chocopie). Then I noticed her busy on her phone with that worried face. She was waiting for a patient to arrive. This scene showcased how devoted she is in doing her duty.
As the doctor in charge of the patient she prepares herself for the patient's arrival if it means she has to turn down the delicious looking cookies, she would without batting an eye. When she found out that it would take twenty more minutes that is when she finds time to eat.
Episode 2 Ju Hwan’s Mom Scene: This is the scene where Dr. Jang informed Ju Hwan’s mom what’s going going to happen to his son based on her first observation through Dr. Bong’s explanation and told her that if she only performed CPR and chest compressions, her son could have-
lived if she had those. After getting scolded by Dr. Ahn, she immediately admitted and was able to say on what she did wrong. As for stating that Jun Hwan’s condition she believed that as a mother, she needed to know the truth about her son’s condition.
Yes, her whole statement turned out to be pretty bad, but please know that she too only did what she believes is best, and when realized what she did wrong she was willing to admit it and apologize.Seeing her facial expression tells us that she feels guilty and regret.
Episode 2 Maggots scene: In this scene a construction worker has a frostbitten leg and is covered with maggots. We see that Dr. Bae and Nurse Lee is contemplating on how they are going to remove the maggots.
The two looks squeamish and yes there is nothing wrong with it, but I want to show my appreciation Dr. Jang’s quick response to the patient’s need. Without hesitation she picked the maggots by hand (with gloves of course), all while Dr. Bae and Nurse Lee are thinking of using a-
suction unit to get rid of the maggots. Hearing the patient’s cry Dr. Jang the harmless and fastest way possible of getting rid of the maggots, again for the welfare of the patient. (just look at her worried face). I literally melted when I saw her so focused into picking up-
those maggots from his foot, you can see how she just wants to get rid of his pain. Oh, and kudos to Nurse Lee for volunteering to help Dr. Jang pick up the maggots even if she is squeamish.
I am not in any way trying to undermine Dr. Bae, I’m just saying they have their own niches. As for Dr. Bae I think she is exceptional in handling and talking to the patients and their loved ones, kudos to that.
Episode 3 Dr. Jang decision making scene: Again, some might think that she is lucky for she gets to pick which surgery to assist, I mean the more choices the better right? But just imagine the pressure that she is getting from her 13 professors.
I am really impressed with her on how she can handle that by herself.
Episode 3 Yukjeon Scene: Dr. Jang had brought Dr. Lee Ikjun some Yukjeon from Gwangju. When she noticed Dr. Lee coughing she instinctively offered him some water. This indicates how quick Dr. jang responds to people in potential danger. That is one of the traits of a great doctor
Episode 3 Game of Antonyms Scene: While eating Yukjeon Dr. Lee was stating facts why Dr. Jang shouldn’t even like Dr. Ahn, when it turned into a game of antonyms, where insensitive turned into humanitarian, extremely stubborn tunred into man principle and dirt poor turned into-
noblesse oblige. This proves that Dr. Jang is able to see the good in people. She was able to counter all of Dr. Lee’s words not because she was blindly in love with Dr. Ahn, but it's how she was able to see the good in him that made her fall completely in love with him.
Episode 4 Chocopie Scene: In this scene we can Dr. Jang happily enjoying her pastry while listening to the meeting, when she noticed that the other residents and interns aren’t eating, She took the initiative of giving everyone snacks. This further proves that she instinctively-
cares for the people around her. While Dr. Ahn obviously only has his eyes for her (charot). The fact that she was able to notice the interns’ dilemma of getting snacks or not, just proves that she is able to feel for others and read the room.
Episode 4 Abuser Scene: The scene started with the abuser explaining how they allegedly got caught up in a car accident because he dozed off. When Dr. Jang explained to Dr. Bong what happened, he asked what kind of father would let that happen.
Dr. Jang gave the abuser the benefit of the doubt. Another proof that she is able to understand people’s struggles, for all she knew the father/soon to be exposed as an abuser, could just be really tired at that moment.
Episode 5 Abuser Chase Scene: Just how can we not praise her in this scene? Chasing the abuser is a really brave thing to do. Yes, someone already called the police but does it mean you’re just going to let him run away? Her initiative to chase the bad guy in this scene deserves-
an applause. Yulje is a big crowded hospital, there is a chance the abuser could get away, but because of Dr. Jang with the help of SongHwa, she is able to prevent him from running away even if she gets kicked on the face. Her dedication to chase the bad guy is worth melting for.
Episode 6: Ji A’s Mother Scene: For this scene, Dr. Ahn asked Dr Jang if she already talked to Ji A’s mother about her daughter’s condition, and she answered saying the mother was devastated. When she saw Dr. Ahn’s reaction, she immediately told him that, she explained to her in-
detail and that she wasn’t blunt like the last time. This shows how she learned her lesson and is improving for the better. Bringing up that Ji A’s mother feels devastated shows how she is able to feel for patients. It shows that she cares for them and thinks about how they feel.
Episode 6 Dewy Makeup Scene: For this scene Dr. Jang jokingly pretended that Dr. Chu’s face is a mirror because of how shiny it is. Yes, Dr. Chu has her right to wear her makeup however she likes, but Dr. Jang only wanted to correct her because she thinks the shine from Dr. Chu’s
-dewy makeup is over the top. She even mentions that her mother taught to correct things when they go the wrong way. If she is really cold, she wouldn’t care about Dr. Chu’s overly done dewy makeup.
Episode 7 Delivering Ji A’s liver (from donor): In this scene we can see Dr. Jang in a hurry to deliver the liver for Ji A. Dr. Ahn was impressed with how quickly she was able to get there despite the many hurdles she had to face.
Dr. Jang then explained how she hurriedly walked and not run to be get there as quickly and safe as possible. We love our quick-witted and careful doctor. Oh, and her smile when Dr. Lee praised her is just another proof that she can feel emotions please.
Episode 8 Pethidine Scene: A patient kept on asking the nurses to give him more pain killers, pethidine in particular, even if he had already taken some (tridol). When Dr. Jang noticed the patient’s cry, she immediately went in to check his wound, to see if he is really in pain
When she noticed that the stitches were nicely done she asked the nurses to not give him any more pain killers for it will be bad for his health. When the patient kept on asking for Pethidine, she noticed that he might have been addicted to it, so she blatantly asked him if he is
This made him stop asking for it, perhaps he felt embarrassed of Dr. Jang’s question. Again, she was out of line for accusing the patient of being an addict. It was an unethical thing to do. For Dr. Jang she was only trying to be honest with him, she has a habit of stating facts-
based on her observation (like in episode 2), filtering her words with the patients is something that she is still learning to do. Yes, what she said was wrong but keep in mind that after she asked him that-
she also told him what could happen to him if he takes another pain-killer. As a doctor she is still looking out for her patient.
Episode 8 Dr. Jang’s Professors’ meeting with the Director: Here we can see her worried while waiting for the meeting to end. Even if Dr. Lee already informed her that things worked out well, you can still see guilt, and regret on her face-
for she had once again disappointed her professors. This is not how a person who is as cold as winter acts hehe.
Episode 8 Yangpyeonged Scene: While Dr. Lee is having coffee with Dr. Jang, he had mentioned that Dr. Ahn went to his house last weekend to play with his son Uju. This is when Dr. jang realized that he had lied when he said he needed to go to Yangpyeong last weekend, therefore-
not having any choice but to turn down her plead to take her out for dinner. Dr. Jang’s reaction is truly admirable and brave. Choosing to give up on the person you like is also a brave thing to do. Accepting that the person you like can never like you back is difficult.
