Note how Tory ministers are now using Twitter to deliberately stoke outrage. You know this is intentional because political Twitter is dominated by the broad left. You are their audience.
The aim is to demoralise & disorient you by encouraging impotent fury. https://twitter.com/MikeH_PR/status/1301613059195260937
The more we make the likes of Patel's talking points trend, the more we do their work for them.

The really evil part is the fact that we are addicted. It takes enormous energy not to engage, thanks to social contagion & fear of missing out.
I worry about the toll this takes on people's mental health. And the distraction that supposedly 'holding them to account' by tippy tapping angry tweets all day *to an agenda set by THEM* achieves.
Anyway, stop deluding yourself & just admit that you tweet about these things for your own gratification. Not for any grander scheme. This excellent thread exposes the relationship between your fury & the real world. By showing that there isn't one really. https://twitter.com/CharlotteAlter/status/1301710651690299392?s=19
I still think one of the biggest cons pulled off by Twitter was to make every inconsequential person (including me) delude ourselves into believing we are 'activists'.

We are actually the meat, squeezing ourselves into the grinder.
'But I still believe we must hold them to account' is the Twitter politics addict version of the alcoholic or smoker's 'well you've got to die from something'.

No. No, you don't.
