Step by step procedure involved in e exportation of ginger coming up soon
Immediately the harvest season commences, you have two options either export fresh ginger or export dried split ginger

Will talk about the dried split ginger which is the contract that is usually more in demand
Dried split ginger
Buy fresh ginger from the farm, start in from October ending or November, you then wash it, then get it sliced and dry under the sun, we usually use sun drying because it is the cheapest means of drying
Dry your ginger on trampolines to avoid it picking up impurities.
After it has been properly dried, you then proceed to picking out the foreign matters, dead ginger, unsliced ginger, ginger with mold or afloxin.
Once it is properly selected, you then move to the begging stage, at this stage you need a scale to weigh you ginger, standard weight for export of ginger is usually 40kg, but you weigh each bag 40-41kg, to give room for loss in transit.
Stack your ginger in a warehouse, get a container, load it into it, make sure you inspect the container to avoid leakages, dress the container with craft paper or carton to avoid mist touching the ginger, put in dry bags and chemicals that will prevent insect from infecting it
Get commodity inspector to come and inspect your goods, they will give you certificate for it, then you are good to go
Fresh harvested ginger, next is loading in bags, wash, slice, dry, pick, den loan in export bags, load unto a container, then transport to waff for onward shipment
As for the fresh ginger, after the harvest of the ginger, you wash properly, then sort out the ginger to get the whole ginger, remove broken pieces, stones and foreign matters allow water to properly drain the package to clients specs, and load unto a refrigerator container
Packaging of fresh ginger varies and depends on clients request, but always ensure you use a refrigerator container all the way for shipment
