This reminds me of my idea for a series: Punctuation Marks as Original Super Smash Bros Characters https://twitter.com/DanielTorday/status/1301687088207855619
Period = Kirby.
Great for beginners. Gets a lot done with little effort, The more experienced you get, the less you use it.
Comma = Mario
There are elegant uses, for sure, but inexperienced users will just spam the same move over and over again.

Luigi is just the Oxford comma.
Exclamation Mark = Captain Falcon
If you need this explained, you haven’t played the game.
Em Dash = Samus
Can effectively do what any of the others do. Less experienced players can spam a few moves. Veterans can create the most eloquent spree of damage out of seeming chaos.
Semicolon = Yoshi
Less experienced players don’t even bother, but your one friend who puts in nine hours a day will leave a field of carnage in their wake with a single, well-placed strike from this egg-throwing, head-butting maniac.
Elipses = Donkey Kong
Perhaps outsiders will see Donkey Kong as a bruiser and poor match for the least decisive of punctuations. Anyone who has played him knows the whole experience is watching his arm spin, then stop, then spin again, then wait for a moment that may never come.
Question Mark = Jigglypuff
Jigglypuff serves one purpose. You only pick them when you want to play a very specific kind of game. If that’s what you want though, they’re the only one that will do.
Apostrophe = Star Fox
He’s actually a very versatile player but most people only use him for the rockets and the lasers, and often at the exact wrong times.
Parentheses - Ness
Ness’s whole game is about isolation, whether he’s bouncing your around with his orbs of psychic energy or freezing you in place with his pika-fire. He can throw the best strategy completely off course.
Quotation Marks = Link
Does anyone really enjoy playing as link. Using him always felt like a hassle. I mean he was fine but not the best at anything. Nothing you did with Link really counted, just like nothing you say in quotes reflects on you.
And lastly,

Asterisk = Pikachu
I never had much use for Pikachu, but I liked watching him work. Your eyes scanned the whole arena as his quick attack moved the battle up and down, left and right, always from the center into the margins.
And that’s it. That’s all I got.

This is the best thing I will ever do on this site.
If I had 1,000 followers this thread would be viral and this would be my job now.
