Sooo #AcademicFreeze and #LigtasNaBalikEskwela. Been thinking abt it and I just thought: the effectiveness of a teaching isn't based on whether or not it's a face-to-face lecture or online lecture. Ppl learn from the quality of content.
Re: concern for teachers' livelihood
- they'll need to adjust by figuring out how to guide students' self-study
- ask them to provide a whole plan, not just a syllabus (bc be honest, we've all had unorganized profs)
- "plan" as in guide questions for readings, impt notes/points
- mayb they can't create an entire plan, ok so they should have deadlines too for when students can expect the next like "installment"
- it'll be hard work figuring all that out, so their work should b compensated
Re: concern for students w/ limited wifi, access to gadgets, etc
- students can learn mostly based on the "plan" and learning materials prepped beforehand, n not lectures or stuff online
- little need to interact but guidance is there (I think)
Re: concern for students w/ other financial, family, physical/mental health, etc issues
- few interactions but guidance is there (I think)
- they can study at their own time; teachers help/teach them by pointing out the impt things to study so they don't waste their time
I don't think it's right for classes to stop all in all but I also don't think it's right to continue w/o making more changes :<
Anyways, I don't claim to know everything or that this is a definite/better solution
It isn't my job to figure this out. I also don't have the credentials to solve stuff like this. I'm just trying to add to the conversation
I'm generally sensitive and my mental health has not been great so.. if I have mistakes/lapses please correct me gently. If my points are stupid, please just tell me to delete the thread politely.
I don't want to fight people or make anyone mad. I just wanted to say what I was thinking, as a student who is affected by all this. Whatever you reply, please remember that I am a human and mean words do affect me. I will delete this thread quietly if I need to
