This Marine’s sister, missing her brother, typed his name into twitter tonight just to see what she’d see. She found this thread. I’m humbled by the conversation we just had. https://twitter.com/jennslenz/status/943600688457711616
11pm, headlines what they are and I’m crying over a Marine I never met with a woman I don’t know. She thanked me for “saying his name on here.” I shared the tweet metrics with her—told her how many people know his name now. He matters. If we say their names, we won’t forget.
She said finding him “here” like this, seeing his headstone, feels like an unexpected hug from him. I’m gutted. So many families buried pieces of their heart in service to this nation. Please don’t let anyone’s hollow words cheapen their service or their sacrifice.
