Real take.

When I was in college I wrote a paper about the political philosophy of St. Augustine. I was very proud of that paper. My professor gave me one of the best compliments I've ever gotten for it.

By the time I was finished with it, I 100% agreed with St. Augustine:
The *form* of government/economics is secondary to the values that a society holds. Live under a monarchy? Love God & your neighbor. Democracy? Love God & your neighbor. Anarchist co-op? Love God & your neighbor.
A socialist society that values love of God & neighbor will be more prosperous than a capitalist society that values wealth. A capitalist society that values love of God & neighbor will be healthier than a socialist society that values power.
Jesus’ summation of ALL the Law and Prophets was this: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… Love your neighbor as yourself.”

That's it. That's the commandments.
All of our politics and economics will burn in the fire. We will be left with a King on a throne who has supplied all our needs of His own grace, and a cloud of witnesses from every nation, tribe, and tongue.

We'd best remember that before then.
