When I was in college I wrote a paper about the political philosophy of St. Augustine. I was very proud of that paper. My professor gave me one of the best compliments I& #39;ve ever gotten for it.
By the time I was finished with it, I 100% agreed with St. Augustine:

The *form* of government/economics is secondary to the values that a society holds. Live under a monarchy? Love God & your neighbor. Democracy? Love God & your neighbor. Anarchist co-op? Love God & your neighbor.
A socialist society that values love of God & neighbor will be more prosperous than a capitalist society that values wealth. A capitalist society that values love of God & neighbor will be healthier than a socialist society that values power.
Jesus’ summation of ALL the Law and Prophets was this: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… Love your neighbor as yourself.”
That& #39;s it. That& #39;s the commandments.

All of our politics and economics will burn in the fire. We will be left with a King on a throne who has supplied all our needs of His own grace, and a cloud of witnesses from every nation, tribe, and tongue.
