1. Thread: A records request provides more light on how the county and RNC tried to get delegates to wear masks on the floor during the Republican National Convention.
2. RNC VP Max Everett and Gibbie Harris exchanged numerous emails about the lack of masks worn by delegates on the floor.

"Just so you know I’m not blowing smoke - I really have a thoughtful team here that is fighting the fight for us." - RNC VP Max Everett
3. Gibbie responded to Max Everett's email 3x, telling him:

- She got a question from the media about the lack of masks
- "I know that and do appreciate it. Just had to make the point. Thanks Max."
- "Hearing concerns from the State now. What more can we do to enforce?"
4. Everett responded to Gibbie saying he emailed RNC leadership and that he pushed for an announcement on masks. He also had staff bring a bunch of handful wrapped logo masks to the floor in the hopes delegates would wear them when President Trump arrived
5. Harris later released this statement through a spox on the lack of masks:

"I have just shared concern about the lack of mask wearing and social distancing in the room at the RNC Roll Call Meeting with the RNC Convention staff. I have been assured that they are working hard.."
6. We later learned that at least 4 people tested positive for COVID. They were not at the events in the Convention Center and were sent immediately home. But in the fight to find out that info, the county wrongly stated they couldn't provide the info because of HIPAA.
7. According to the records request, a spox asked Harris if they could cite HIPAA as a reason to deny our request for info.

Gibbie responded, "HIPAA and no Public Health issue to share."

The county later admitted HIPAA does not prevent them from releasing what we asked.
8. Not a lot of other new nuggets to come out of our records request. Dr. Runge of the RNC texted Gibbie Harris because he was worried about the proximity of the chairs in the lounge of the Westin
9. The RNC Incident Commander sent an email saying there were reports of 2000 protesters expected in the area for the RNC.

I believe the total number of protesters ended up being in the low hundreds, not thousands.
