There is no punctuation that can touch the em-dash. It’s is the switchblade of punctuation marks.
I often tell students it’s the only onomatopoeic punctuation. It physically makes your eye do what it wants your ear to hear.
Well I just blocked two Twitter users for their heretical views on the em dash. So that's where my life has taken me.
Just one last quick thing: if you'd told me like 5 years ago that a tweet about the em dash would go viral I would've been like-- yeah-- sounds about right--

The en-dash meanwhile is just a sad little hyphen. It is the butter knife of punctuation marks.
