I am watching "The Same Boat" from Season 6. I am noticing little things. Daryl and Glenn are both manhandling Primo (their hostage) as Rick negotiates with Paula for the return of Carol and Maggie. (a thread)
Carol made sure to leave good footprints for Daryl to track back to the road so they may have an idea where to search. She also looked for landmarks as they were in vehicles being transported to the slaughterhouse.
When Paula leaves Maggie and Carol to check out the building, Maggie immediately begins to try to break free. Carol too.
I think this is the beginning of her "breakdown." Melissa and Carol are both such good actors that I was never really sure if Carol was really breaking down or if this was an act to get Paula and the gang to underestimate her and for Carol to help them get out.
Maggie is cool as a cucumber when she talks with Paula and I love it. Molly is my favorite out of this group of Saviors. She is a mean lady who did not have a good life before the turn and she is just hysterically funny in a villainous way.
I love the obvious parallel between Maggie and Michelle and Paula and Carol. And unfortunately for Paula and the gang...they all make the grave mistake of underestimating Carol.
The story Paula tells about the carrot, egg, and coffee beans... a great metaphor for how Carol and Maggie have changed. And this is where Paula explains why she is the way she is. She is not ashamed of what she has done.
I think this is why Carol has struggled with this. Hopefully, soon, Carol can get peace and acceptance with who she has become and what it took to get her there.
When Carol overhears Paula's plans to kill her family. Carol's switch immediately flips and she goes into her protective mode to get Maggie and get them out. Carol is still fragile and Maggie is right...they have to finish off Paula and her gang.
Maggie is so savage in this episode especially with how she dispatches Donnie and Molly. Carol just ENDS Michelle when she threatens Maggie and the baby.
@aliciawitty was so amazing in this episode and @mcbridemelissa well, she is always amazing. @LaurenCohan really showed off why we love Maggie so much.
After Carol kills Paula and is having her crisis of conscience and she burns the last two of the Saviors we can see the internal battle both her and Maggie are going through.
Then at the very end of the episode we get this marvelous reunion between Carol and Daryl and Maggie and Glenn.
