1/ There's a demimonde of retired general officers who have been split on how to handle Trump.

Some think they need to stay our of politics.

Some think speaking will do more harm than good.

Some have faith our institutions are stronger than Trump.

2/ Some served in this White House and have been silent, or elliptical in their description of what they saw and learned.

Some have tried to quietly influence the circles around him.

But you know you've seen the truth. You know this is his low, terrible character.

3/ I pray you'll speak out, and speak the hard truth to the country. No, I don't expect it will change the minds or hearts of his voters, but the men and women you led in war and peace deserve your honesty.
