What is insulting, of course, is that Doug Ford, the prince of labels and Businessman in Chief can’t see returning to school in a broader social context. There are no adults that he’ll listen to. So despite the risk/reward across all aspects of society, he makes three mistakes:

One: he underfunds it. Badly. He dramatically reduces the probability of success. Two: he fails to realize all the money he spends is also stimulus money to inject into the local economy. And three: the plan is cobbled together and not embedded into a larger, cohesive framework.

As I’ve said, I’m forgiving during a pandemic. I get we’re all learning new things and it all comes quicker to some of us. But this is the government. In the developed world. Access to the best minds, money, and support. And they didn’t just reject the help. They defied it.
