Read on Twitter
I wish going into this industry I was more prepared to deal with online hatred. Sports twitter is probably second only to politics twitter for the sheer amount of abuse & trolling. Which is weird because sports twitter ironically also produces some of the loveliest moments.
I’m not sure some of you folks understand how difficult it is when you’re off the clock and just wanna see what the timeline is saying and your mentions are just full of it. It’s all lied about this or

If you don’t like what I do or how I do it then mute me. Block me. I don’t care. I’ve blocked plenty of you 
, because some of you come across as really nasty folks. Always looking for some negativity. Looking for conflict.

I don’t understand how some people have so much hate in their heart. I see stuff everyday I don’t agree with or think is dumb. Just don’t engage with it. You can choose to just say nothing and keep scrolling. But some of you feel like your voice is the most important on earth.
And what’s even crazier to me is how some of twitter will berate somebody for doing their job. Sometimes I wonder how some people would feel if I came to their place of work and hurled abuse at them throughout the day. You’d probably go home feeling pretty bummed, right?
We can have a conversation. No problem. Articulate your point without being a jackass. Let’s talk. Let’s see each other’s side and see where we’re at. Or ask smart questions.
And it gets hard to ignore when it’s a constant. It’s easy to say “ignore it” but it’s really tough. And I say this from a pretty small following. I can’t imagine what it’s like for those with bigger ones. And I kinda fear that.
So many of you don’t know me, or many twitter handles for that fact, as a person. You just see a picture and a bio and some thoughts. You don’t see the things people wrestle with every day.
I say this now as on Sunday it’ll be the fourth anniversary of my mum’s passing. This has been a tough week for me. But so many of you don’t know that. And that isn’t your fault. But it’s also the reason why abuse and trolling gets me down, man.
So I’m out here fighting my own internal battles while DouchebagDave98263 calls me a fraud or a shit journalist or a clown. Those barbs, when thrown at you day in, day out, cut real deep eventually.
Please let’s be good to each other. We can disagree and not like each other, but there’s a way to do that.
