Amy Pond is the Doctor Who companion that went through the most shit and she deserves so much more respect than she gets: A Thread.
Let's start off with the psychological trauma of meeting a magical fish custard man who falls out the sky, says he's gonna take you to see the stars after 5 minutes, and then doesn't come back for 12 YEARS. This girl had FOUR PSYCHIATRISTS because no one believed her.
After having her boyfriend DIE right before her eyes, she's forced to FORGET HE EXISTED, and finds herself crying out of grief with no idea why. And when she finally remembers him, HE GOES ALL PLASTIC AND SHOOTS HER.

ALL of this is just in her first series. The worst is to come.
After falling pregnant, Amy is KIDNAPPED and kept inside some scary white coffin thing for 9 months. She's replaced with a clone so her husband and best friend don't even KNOW she's missing. Then when she's woken up, she has to immediately GIVE BIRTH. The trauma, oh the trauma.
She gets like two minutes tops with her daughter before she's taken away. THEN she thinks that her baby has been rescued, and feels the relief of being saved - only for her daughter to MELT IN HER ARMS. She finds out her real child has been taken. Umm?? Someone hug her??
After finding out that her childhood best friend was actually her child, and she has no way of ever bringing up her baby properly, the Doctor drops her off and lets her believe he died. Luckily, she seems to be settled in her new home, and all is well! Just kidding, there's more.
After seeing her husband's name appear on a grave, Amy is forced to choose between being permanently stuck in the past and never seeing her best friend or family again, or never seeing her husband again. Choosing Rory, she gives up everything else she knows and loves. I am pain.
The writers simply did not want to give this woman a BREAK, but she emerged from it with a successful career, a loving partner and child, and enough stories for a lifetime.

Amelia Jessica Pond is one of the most resilient characters in the entire show. Thank you for your time x
