Acrylic, full stop. A lot of people are saying oil, which assumes access to good ventilation/studio space. The slow drying time also comes with its own set of difficulties, like constant waiting in-between layers.

Acrylic is more flexible, less toxic and can still mimic oil. https://twitter.com/javi_draws/status/1301409808852160513
In fact, a big reason why acrylic is frowned upon in snooty art circles is because it's too 'easy' compared to oils and watercolor. Same with gouache.

It's commonly viewed as a working artist's craft. I adore the shit out of it.
Acrylic can easily mimic other mediums, too. Want a watercolor look? Just add water. Want a mushy, oily result? Get an extender or gel medium.

While oils can have their drying time sped up with additives, it'll still be more waiting (and toxicity) than any acrylic mix.
Acrylic goes a step further: because it basically turns into flexible plastic once it dries, and can't get wet again, you can paint on all sorts of surfaces.

I actually want to get a pair of white or beige sneakers and do some original acrylic designs. This stuff's amazing.
Ha, I'm thinking now about how digital art is ALSO frowned upon by fine art snobs.

It seems like any art medium that doesn't punch you in the asshole as an entry fee is 'lesser'. I'm seeing a pattern here, Scoob!
