Thread regarding the risks of Mifeprex directly from Danco Laboratories and the FDA as of 2019.
You will notice as of 2019 the company stated it was imperative Misoprostol and that pregnancy be dated by clinical examination or ultrasound.
With all the adverse risks and REMS required as well as increased risk if Mifeprex is taken alone, why is ANSIRH and Guttmacher recommending they be over the counter?
Follow care with the provider must occur within 7 to 14 days. There are contraindications for Mifepex including ectopic pregnancy which cannot be confirmed without an ultrasound.
"A high index of suspicion is needed to rule out sepsis...if a patient reports abdominal pain or discomfort or general malaise more than 24 hours after taking misoprostol"

The immune system is lowered during use.
The REMS Program is necessary "because of the risks of serious complications".
"About 85% of patients report at least 1 adverse reaction...many can be expected to report more than one"

"Abdominal pain/cramping is expected in all medical abortion & its incidence is not reported in clinical studies". - what about high index of suspicion to rule out sepsis🤔
Serious adverse reactions were reported in 155 women.
48 women required an ER visit
In other studies combined, 86 women required hospitalization.
Hemmorage was not even tracked.

Adverse reactions that occur without tracking:
- infections/infestations
- Anemia
- Anxiety
- Immune system disorders
- Cardiac disorders
- etc
"Specific drug or food interactions with mifepristone have not been studied".

"the process of dailed pregnancy termination could disrupt normal embryo-fetal development and result in adverse developmental effects"
Wonder what happens when you introduce more progesterone?
In US trials, 436 women required surgical intervention and 117 women experienced a failed abortion.
Here they advise patients to take the Medication guide to the ER or provider who did prescribe Mifeprex, but Women on Waves encourages women to lie.
It is interesting to note the inclusion of miscarriage and childbirth here, as if that makes the risks of Mifeprex (a completely elective medication when used for abortion) more acceptable.
"About 2 to 7 out of 100 women taking Mifeprex will need a surgical procedure"

That is higher range than the claim of 2.6% on page 13.
Encouraging follow up with the healthcare provider. Who will women follow up with if they are getting Mifeprex via mail or telemedicine? Where is the continuity of care?
Clearly the side effects of Mifeprex are not the "same as a period".
