I have two little girls and, to be honest, getting Covid this year isn’t on my bucket list. I’d like to see their next birthdays. But here’s what I would like to see more, @Rob_Fleming stop lying from your pulpit. When you are asked about physical distancing can you please

Tell reporters what you tell us. In our classrooms we do not need to physical distance our students from each other. It’s okay according to Dr. Henry that 4 of my 9-10 year old students can sit face to face and shoulder to shoulder at the same table. Can you please be honest.

It makes my job harder when you lie. When I send a pic of my class to parents in anticipation of their kids return and they see their kids will be sitting in pods, I’d appreciate it if you had been honest so I don’t have to. It makes me look the fool.

I don’t have enough desks. 1/3 of my school has tables and we will not be getting desks. I also don’t have room for 3O desks in my class. So physical distancing inside my cohort is a lie. I’ll also have 30 kids in my class because when one opts out another

Is enrolled. You know this is happening. Or are you ignorant of the truth? Please stop telling people class sizes are smaller. That is another lie. Your averages may look nice but they are completely false for the GVRD and Fraser Valley. We have classes of 30.

I am excited and nervous and all emotions in between and up to fearful because I know how sickness spreads in my classroom. I am hopeful that maybe handwashing is more effective than physical distancing and wearing a mask to keep droplets to yourself but that’s not what Henry

Tells everyone else daily. So maybe I’m the fool to hope all your lies don’t lead to Covid spreading like wild fire in schools, that students don’t see their parents or grandparents struggle to breathe and that I get to be a mom for just that much longer. Please stop lying.

I can handle the truth, I’m living and facing the reality as I set up my classroom. But can you just tell the public the truth. Elem schools won’t look that different and there isn’t much you or anyone else can do about it. Truth matters.

Here’s what is different - we will handwash 6-7x a day. One way paths, staggered start & breaks & dismissal. No buddies, no guests on campus, as much outdoor as we can. Physical distancing as controlled as possible, but still close in cohorts. Masks maybe. Just be honest.
