Naturalization was a high priority for past presidents — both D & R. Faced with the need to accelerate citizenship interviews, they would have worked around the clock, administered same-day or virtual oath ceremonies, and surged resources to states with the earliest deadlines.

See how many soon-to-be disenfranchised new American voters are in your state, along with each looming voter registration deadline (h/t @votedotorg).

Spoiler alert: 37,000 in Florida

Guess where the overwhelming majority of these disenfranchised voters come from?

Hint: Not Canada, Australia, or Europe.

Slow-walking citizenship also fits into a Trump administration pattern of throwing up constant obstacles to naturalization—like the giant upcoming hike on application fees.

In a grim sense, the 300,000 missing voters are lucky —they won’t be able to vote this Nov purely because of the Trump admin’s delay, but at least they& #39;re still on track to become US citizens.

Countless other immigrants may not have that chance.
