I don’t understand how people still compare Ronaldo to Messi in 2020. No disrespect to CR7 but the only thing comparable between him and Messi is their goalscoring and even at that, Messi is ahead. There are plenty of things that Messi has achieved that CR7 hasn't. In addition to the accolades/achievements mentioned above, Messi is also the first & only footballer to win the Laureus Sportsman of the Year award (1st ever team sport athlete to win the award too)

...participate in a WC Final, win a Gold Medal, 2 trebles + Sextuple (team achievements), IFFHS Playmaker of the Year (4 - record) & only player to score + assist in 6 club competitions in 1 year. On the other hand, there are only 4 things that CR7 has achieved that Messi hasn't:

1) Win an International trophy (team achievement)
2) Win a Puskas award (Fan voted+Messi would have won it in 2015 if Brazilian team Goianésia's fans didn’t sabotage the voting)
3) score 50+ goals in 3 of Europe's top 5 leagues
4) Win titles w/ different clubs (team achievement)

Furthermore, Messi has more goals vs. big teams + more goals (+assists) in finals, head-to-head matches & Intl. tournaments than CR7. Messi = "choker" & CR7 = more clutch is a myth as they're both as consistent & clutch as each other, which is why they've been performing at the highest level for 15+ years.

Both have scored a winning goal in 23% of their matches & a from a losing position in 9% of their matches

CR7 being a better performer on the International stage is also a myth seeing as Messi has won 3 individual awards with Argentina (2 Golden Balls), while CR7 has never won an individual award with Portugal and as previously mentioned, Messi has more G+A in Intl. tournaments

Even when they both played in Spain, Messi still scored more goals, provided more assists, won more titles, won more individual awards and was more dominant in head-to-head matches.

There is a reason why the vast majority of fans, legends, managers, pundits, etc. think Messi is a better player than Ronaldo
