A thread on 'lenses' in RE. We're trialling this approach..
#TeamRE

Starting with our own lens and what can contribute to it's view....
How our lens views a few big questions...

How and why it might change.

Reflecting on their own lens for a HW
Appreciating that others have a different lens...
With a very brief mention of disciplinary lenses...
Highlighting a disciplinary or own lens when appropriate...

e.g. when we study polygamy in Islam, seeing it from the lens of those alive in Makkah during the time of Muhammad, as well as from the law in the UK today.
Looking at how there are multiple ways of looking at meaning. Including diversity between & within religions....

There isn't 'a' Christian lens or 'a' Muslim lens but many.
And how the lenses may be used in interpretation of texts....

Thanks to inspiration from @BobBowie in the past couple of years on this.

We do this for GCSE foundation as well.
Remember our explanations will cover the complexities of http://these.It 's not as simple as I'm presenting http://here.It 's a start of their thinking in yr 7, appropriate for our students.
I've taught two of my five (yes five!) year 7 classes already and had some interesting discussions so far.

I can share more of how things go if people are interested.
