I'm close to a breaking point. There's a point in this video where a landlord's maintenance man weeps as he is being forced to move an elderly woman's possessions into the street. https://twitter.com/monaeltahawy/status/1301501055059062784
This child with a child lost his job to COVID, found a new one, and shows the reporter his $300 minimum wage paycheck. He couldn't keep up. The reporter asks about his possessions on the curb. "Oh that's trash. We have no car, no place to go, no place to put it."
With nothing but a backpack and a stroller full of baby clothes, diapers, and children's snacks, they're off to God knows where. This didn't need to happen. We could have avoided this outcome in so many different ways. As a society, we chose not to.
