Deku: Why he is one of the best shonen protagonists and the best main character for My Hero Academia

[A Thread]
The way he fits his stories themes and messages are seamless

He both contributes to and is a by product of the society that is flawed in heroaca

All this while having his own personality, goals, ideals, strengths, weakness that form a truly amazing character
Starting with fitting his stories themes - one of the main issues MHA touches on is the flawed society that is created through the hero system

Deku is a by product of that, getting bullied and tormented because he was born inferior to others (Quirk Discrimination)
But even so, he still idealizes these heroes because it is his dream to become one. But he can’t, until he meets All Might which allows him to compete.

All might is one of the few heroes that actually try to save everyone, including quirkless Deku who would have been ignored
Deku gaining OFA and becoming a hero actually just resets the cycle and flaw that Hero Society has. It’s not his fault though, and we see Deku coming to terms with the idea that not everyone is born equal even from the first page - see how seamlessly he fits into these themes?
And Deku as a character is one of strong ideals and unwavering strength. He went from being a scrawny picked on kid to one of the top of his class through hard work alone - he worked incredibly hard and he completely deserves his power
And then we see throughout the series that with his experiences, bad and good, he takes from those things and learns from them. Builds upon them to better himself as a hero - taking his failure not as a defeat but a way to make himself stronger so it doesn’t happen again
And that doesn’t mean he is mr perfect. Losing Bakugo to the league was something nearly broke him completely. Remember overhaul? He had it in his mind that he wasn’t good enough for OFA so he tried to give it to Mirio - but it took Mirio to tell him that he is a great hero
For him to gain some confidence in himself. His insecurities are prevalent throughout the entire series, and that in itself is a by product of the mental trauma he went through as a child because of society’s shafting nature to people like him, quirkless or unfavorable quirks
See how everything ties back to Deku being the perfect MC for the story of MHA? How his personal issues stem from society’s issues. How his strengths and ideals match the themes and goals of All Might and the idea of a “True Hero” that he needs to become
One that saves everyone, villain, quirkless, people alike. One that will help the problem instead of adding to it - which is exactly what Deku is striving to be _ one that can inherent the responsibility of his predecessors as truly help the hero world
Many people will go “he is basic” or “he is cliche”

I disagree - Deku has plenty of personality and if you actually read whilst reading my hero academia - you will see how he isn’t even perfect himself even if he tries to be that perfect shonen protag
Time after time Deku’s actions are thrown back into his face. His selfless nature, meddling into people’s problems that aren’t his business / he causes problems as much as he tries to fix them - which parallels how heroes in society cause problems even whilst trying to fix them
More examples of this with Endeavors family - Deku says things and meddles but causes more problems by doing so
This once again parallels to the idea of heroes trying to do the right thing, but in the end leaving out and causing problems for a huge group of people (Shigaraki, Twice, Toga, etc.) - and this once again is a perfect fit into this story
Deku is my hero academia’s perfect main character. He fits all of the themes and ideals, he contributes to them, and he furthers the thought process of these themes as the story progresses

He has strong characterization, flaws, imperfections, he has set goals and ideals
Alright, that’s the thread. I could talk for hours about every nuance his character has but this is a twitter thread lol.
