Losses suck

But they’re apart of life

You can’t have the ups without the downs

So how do you manage to control your emotions on the bad days?

1.

You’ll notice I’m down $1100 in that picture

In reality I’m down $2100 today (I just used the bigger loss)

It sucks to see red on the screen

But I expect to see it from time to time...
2.

Back in the day

Anytime I’d take a loss (in the market or life in general)

I’d want to punch a hole in the wall

I was PISSED!

I hated losing

I wanted to be #1 and would do anything to get there
3.

I’d get angry with

• Myself
• My friends
• My family
• The world

It was everyone else’s fault

It was never JT’s fault...
4.

So what changed?

I realized I wouldn’t improve myself until I took responsibility for my actions

I had to verbally tell myself that my failures were my fault
5.

The next step was finding a way to channel my frustration

I did this in three ways in the exact same order

• Meditating
• Going out for walks
• Journaling

These three things worked the best for me
6.

Meditation is no mumbo jumbo

It works

I start every morning at 5:30am on the dot with meditation

This sets my mind on the right track for the day

It especially helps me during the trading day where everything could turn to sh*t at a moments notice
7.

Going out for a walk allows me to get away from the screens

Just like meditation

It can set/reset my mind

It helps to get away from your desk and enjoy what nature has to offer
8.

I journal everyday without fail

In fact I have 2 journals

• One for life
• One for business

I get everything out

Good or bad

I will always analyze what went wrong and how I could improve going forward
9.

These three things allow me to find inner peace when the world is “breaking” down around me

Maintaining your mental capital should be your #1 priority

Without it you’ll find yourself blaming the world for your actions
10.

Find what works best for you

It can be:

• Reading
• Working out
• Being with family
• Spending time alone
• Asking others for help
• Getting away from your phone
11.

Learn to turn your losses into wins

Don’t let those losses break you down

Nothing good will come from that

No loss will ever be a failure as long as you take a learning lesson from it
