I am conflicted over Graeber. I admired his work, and I think his untimely death is a serious loss. But he was intolerant of disagreement and could be very rude. In November last year I disagreed with him about the UK election. He sent me two abusive tweets and blocked me.

I was deeply hurt by his behaviour and very sad that I had no means of repairing the situation. It was also very distressing that some of his followers then invented stories about me that were not true, simply to make me look bad.

This was someone I had met several times in real life and whom I had discussed with at length on subjects such as basic income, on which we substantially agreed. I respected him and I thought he respected me. But clearly that wasn't the case.
