This is something more people need to take to heart, in the event that Biden wins. Republicans will IMMEDIATELY start pretending to care about deficits, strict fealty to the Hatch Act, congressional oversight, you name it.

The solution isn’t to pretend to believe them, and hold Democrats to an unreasonable standard of perfection. It’s to hold Democrats to a reasonable standard of conduct, while censuring unprincipled people trying to wrong foot the opposition with bad faith.
