A THREAD ON THE TITHE
1) Many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. Tithing/giving is intended to be a joy& a blessing. Before you agree or disagree, please follow this thread& read everything& at the END u will be liberated/set free for it is the truth that sets free

2)Tithing was not an Old Testament concept but it was INCLUDED in the Law for the Israelite to give tithe of everything. The tithe did not start in the Old Testament,it was started by Abraham the father of faith before there was the Old Testament.Old Testament came later by Moses

3)So the Law of Moses required every Israelite to give tithe ACCORDING TO THE LAW but when Abraham gave tithe in Genesis14:20 it was ACCORDING TO FAITH not the Law for that time the Law of Moses was not yet ratified or enacted. So Abraham gave by faith,not by law. Don't forget it

4)In the New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says gifts should be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2)

5) The New Testament talks about the importance&benefits of giving.We are to give as we are able.Sometimes that means giving more than tithe(10% of yo income) or sometimes less. It all depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the body of Christ. NO 1 is forced

6) Every Christian should pray&seek God’s wisdom in the matter of participating in tithing &/or how much to give (James 1:5). If u want to tithe do it AFTER THE ORDER of Abraham not the Law. The Law had 3types of tithe Israelites gave. Abraham gave by faith one type of tithe 10%

7) In the New Testament we are not forced to tithe or to give. But if u choose not to tithe or give u will not enjoy the benefits that come with it. In the New Testament tithing is not a law, its partnership with God's work& its not by force& no one will curse u if u don't tithe

8) So tithing is just 10% of your income & its not a law. You can give it& have a harvest or u can choose not to give it& have NO harvest. Its just partnering with God's work. Its giving& it must be done cheerfully. Tithing has benefits just as all givings have benefits.

9) For example, if u sow 10kg maize seeds u will have a harvest. Thats a benefit. If u dont sow u will not have a harvest& none will curse u for that. In the law they were cursed if they do not tithe. In the New Testament we are blessed before we even tithe (Eph 1:3)

10) In the New Testament we dont tithe to be blessed.We are blessed thats why we tithe or give. The salary is a blessing, that income is a blessing, your job is a blessing, your business is a blessing. So we tithe coz we are blessed& ofcourse more blessings will come if u give

11)So, what is the biblical message on tithing for Christians? If God is leading you to tithe, by all means, tithe. But, tithing should never be viewed as a legalistic command. Giving is an aspect of the Christian life, and all Christians should give willingly& cheerfully

12) But there is no set amount.God calls us to live a life of faith&part of faith is sacrificial giving. But if your Pastor is saying give tithes it must be a type of partnership not the law.If u dont want to give it just dont give it.But if u want,then do it as Abraham did it

13)In Galatian 3:7 the Bible says if we are of faith we're children of Abraham. It never said we are children of Moses a man of the Law. "And the Law is not of faith(Gal 3:12)." So if we are to give tithe we follow the pattern of Abraham (Heb 6:12)- the pattern of giving by FAITH

14) Let no one force u to give tithe 10% or any amount above or below 10%. Do it WILLINGLY& CHEERFULLY. Above all, all tithes& offerings should be given with pure motives&an attitude of worship to God&service to the body of Christ.

15) “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

16) BENEFITS OF TITHING
Malachi showed us the benefits of tithing. Malachi was a Prophet so his prophetic message has parts that apply to us& some that only applied to the Jews. So tithing is a form of giving&either in the OT/NT giving has a harvest(benefits).And we're not cursed

17) If u tithe God will open u the windows of heaven&pour u out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Such blessing is favor, ideas, revelations, plans, business ideas, open doors, job opportunities, wisdom, success, power, protection, etc

18) If u tithe God will rebuke the devourer for your sakes& he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. There will be no miscarriages, loses, demotion, or struggles if u tithe.

19) WHERE TO TITHE ? You don't tithe to the poor. The poor are given alms not tithe. You dont tithe to anyone else but to the church where u are fed God's Word. The pastor there receives your tithe on behalf of Jesus the High Priest of the New Testament church (Heb7:8)

20) Your Tithe is a also a form of thanking God for every monthly or weekly or daily blessings. It shows u appreciate God for blessing u with things u have and u will have.

21) WISDOM: It is wise to tithe, it is wise to give even more than your tithe becoz of benefits that come with it. 2 Cor 9:6 "He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly& he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully."NB: Giving less than 10% is giving sparingly

22) Some pple think that since its not by force they opt not to tithe or give.But u will agree with me that every farmer who doesnt sow will suffer hunger coz he will have no harvest. Wise farmers plant seeds every season& even out of season if they can irrigate.Sow like a farmer

23)Genesis 26:12 "Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him." You can sow money,& harvest money. You can sow resources& have harvest of the same. U can also sow love& harvest more loves etc. Just keep tithing&giving

24) God is not going to curse u becoz u didnt give the tithes. NO. If u dont give the tithe u simply won't enjoy the benefits of the tither. For example,God will NOT curse u if u dont plant seed in your field, but u simply won't have a harvest as your neighbour who planted!

25) LASTLY, If u love God& if u remember reasons why He blesses u then u will give not only tithe but all u can to make sure His Gospel is sponsored&spread all over the world& u will make sure the church won't struggle to meet its bills& day to day expenses while u are alive!
