Someone I’ve been friends with for 4 years just told me they can’t associate with me anymore because I have “very different values” (differing political views).

This is sad for a number of reasons but here’s a brief few:

If we’re really about unity and closing the divides in this country we need to be more accepting of different ppl & views not less.

Especially not tearing up friendships and professional relationships in the name of political differences.

I have tons of friends from every spectrum and walk of life and love spending time with everyone and recognize people’s unique experiences lead them to unique views and that’s a great thing.

Our country is great because so many different people can live together!

And yes, it’s a free country so this individual can do whatever they’d like and that’s their prerogative.

But if the stated goal is we need to bring people together in this country cutting out people you disagree with you isn’t a great way to do that. In fact helps divide us.

So I’ll end this with a plea. Whether you’re left, right, anarchist, Marxist, libertarian, war hawk, or whatever you may believe.

Love your neighbor, friends, and family.

You may disagree but we’re all in this together.

Dividing will only make things worse.
