Today I had perhaps the most important conversation one can have with one's spouse, the one where you tell them that soon you are totally gonna buy a superawesome gaming rig with a GeForce RTX 3090 with an equally superawesome 360hz monitor uhhhh FOR WORK yes work that's it

What made this something approaching a reasonable discussion is that I'm building a small music studio in the basement which would need its own computer anyway, so I was gonna have to get a new computer regardless; now I'll move the old desktop there. See? Totally sensible plan.

(If you overlook that I already have a laptop that could do that job just fine BUT NEVER MIND THAT NOW)

Ultimately what made this conversation work was the understanding that within a couple of years the back deck might be completely redone, and sprout a pergola, and when it does what I will do is smile and nod and not ask what it cost, which, honestly, I was already inclined to do
