When there's no subsidy on Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) or on any hydrocarbon product, we should not expect the price to remain the same. It will be controlled by the global trend. This is what obtains everywhere in the world. For instance, Malaysia a country that produces
roughly 670 thousands bbl/day of oil, and has 6 functional refineries with a total capacity to process around 500 thousand bbl/day do not have subsidy to all its citizens. It operates a selective subsidy given to a certain class of citizens. https://www.soyacincau.com/2019/10/16/malaysia-b40-petrol-subsidy-check-online/
In the same Malaysia, fuel was sold at a naira equivalent of N140 per litre in May 2020, & today sold at N190. This because they do not control the price of crude oil in the world & they have to sell it at the global price. This is the reality of the world we live in.
However, one interesting thing which I like about the subsidy pattern in this year's budget in Malaysia is that, although said to have been scrapped by the present govt, the PSP initially targeted around 2.9 million people in the B40 group who are eligible for the Cost
of Living Allowance. Yes, there are certain people in Malaysia that do receive an allowance from the govt due to their vulnerability & low income. Does this looks like the N5,000 monthly allowance proposed by President @MBuhari during his campaign? What happened to that?
"During the tabling of the 2020 Budget last year, then finance minister Lim Guan Eng announced the PSP would be expanded to include about five million middle-income earners, whose monthly household income was less than RM4,000 (N440,000)!

But do you know that a University
Professor in Nigeria would be eligible for this Allowance? The salary of a University Prof post IPPIS is now around N416,000 maximum. So a University Prof in Nigeria falls under a low income earner in Malaysia? A third world country like Nigeria?
How much then is the average salary of a Professor in Malaysia? An entry level university professor (1-3 years of experience) earns an average salary of RM89,365 (N9.8 Million naira) monthly. On the other end, a senior level university professor (8+ years of experience)
earns an average salary of RM158,238 (N17.2 million naira) monthly!. This salary estimate has been updated to include data from the COVID-19 impact.

A University Prof in Malaysia earns in one month what a Nigerian Professor earns in one year and 7 months.
Please remind me what my thread was about. I have forgotten where I started and where I am going.

Okay, good night. I will continue when I remember.🤭.

In summary, fuel subsidy removal is not one of the failures of the @MBuhari regime. It isn't his fault.
