Over the years I’ve been trying to be mindful of the language I use and even try to encourage those around me to do the same.
Years ago I’d casually say “raping” when it came to someone serial liking posts on my Instagram. I don’t say that any more for obvious reasons

Over time, the folks over at @_CIWiL would correct my language when I’d say “kick” or “fight” in my writing because of those words being violent in nature. I still slip but I’m trying to not.
The thing about language is that it has the power to normalize a series of social issues and we don’t see it till the things are actually normalized. Being mindful is the major key. The power really is in our tongues.
I’m trying to not to get angry with folks who are on their own journeys too but it’s sooooo upsetting because they know better? But alas.
Doing youth work? Don’t be saying “let’s seduce them”... etc. like
