Fam,
Allow me to say that for me, I will always deeply appreciate those White people that are willing to stand beside &, in most cases, in front of all POC. To all of you, I am eternally grateful. That being said, the efforts of those to make the cause of racial equality a case
of what you'll be losing or that the America of your (insert group) will be gone will intensify. Those groups will be playing a desperate game of "Which Side Are You On" because they fear that they will no longer be the center of the universe as they were
for so many years. It is an obvious & time-tested tactic that will attempt to pit the idea of equality for all against the idea of equality for me & none for thee. They will attempt to cast any support you give to anyone demanding that we all get basic human
dignities guaranteed under The Constitution that somehow you are betraying your heritage. Your legacy. Your race.
This viewpoint, in case you were wondering, is a pathetic lie. You aren't betraying anyone. You are demanding that everyone be held to the same
standard & that everyone has the same rights as those people who conveniently bring up The Constitution when they want to say something or behave ignorantly. It is ensuring that all Americans, not just one group, are able to do what we all are striving for: The ability to legally
do what you want without the fear or anxiety that one group of people are working to make another group a permanent underclass. Those people don't want equality for all. They want 1950s America where they were the unquestioned "rulers of everything."
The America we all live in now should not & must never return to that time. We all know the value & benefit of inclusion & we are slowly coming to the realization that when Black Lives Matter, all lives matter.
I know that my White Brothers & Sisters will get a deluge of
"us vs them" rhetoric, if you aren't getting that now. All I ask is that you stay the course. If you can't avoid it, just nod your head & let it pass over you, all the while knowing that what they're saying are the last gasps of a failed idea that has no place in our America.
My White Brothers and Sisters, thank you for your continued & stalwart support of and for people like me. To quote Gov. Andy Beshear "We will get through this and we will get through this together."
