I cannot recommend small discord groups of your peers enough. I think twitter is great for connecting to people, but not for growing and learning together. It’s a broadcasting platform. https://twitter.com/girlziplocked/status/1301276971243122689
There are a few big art ones out there already, but I recommend getting together with some artists with similar interests or backgrounds and making them yourself! I find the smaller more intimate ones I’ve gotten the most out of.
I find now I can use twitter for news and to stay informed, but I can use the discords I’m in to connect with the artists I know and share early art and ideas, get feedback, vent frustrations.... all that stuff that’s really hard to do on here.
I have a few people saying “yeah they can be toxic too” of course they can. In-person friend groups can be toxic. That’s not the platform, it’s the people. It will always be on you to gut check if you’re hanging out with a group that works and is healthy for you.
