On Aug 25th, the Orange County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to hire Dr. Clayton Chau as OC Health Officer & Director.

The Health Officer hiring subcommittee consisted of Supervisors Do & Supervisor Chaffee.

Supervisor Andrew Do did not recluse himself from the hiring subcommittee, who ultimately endorsed skipping over highly qualified candidates and hiring Dr Clayton Chau in a dual role of Health Officer & Director, even though Do’s campaign received at least one donation from Chau.

After Dr Clayton Chau was hired in the dual roles he accompanied Supervisor Andrew Do to a campaign photo-op event (Do is the only supervisor running for re-election in Nov).Their relationship draws more concerns w/ Chau’s ability to be an independent voice protecting the public.

Days after OC's health officer Dr Quick resigned bec of death threats over her mandatory mask order, Dr Chau (the interim health officer) lifted the requirement while opening more businesses. Leaving many people to believe the reversal was made bec of pressure by the supervisors.

Another elected Orange County official who has been very outspoken regarding the mask order is Sheriff Barnes. After Dr Quick’s mandatory mask order for public spaces was made, Sheriff Barnes attended an OC Supervisor’s mtg and said that his officers would not enforce the order.

So Dr Chau was feeling pressure by Sheriff Barnes and supervisors to retract the mask order in July, which was probably awkward due to his relationships with them. Bec in addition to donating to Andrew Do’s Supervisor campaign, Dr Clayton Chau is also a donor to Sheriff Barnes.

I have posted concerns regarding numbers being heavily manipulated by OC Health recently to speed up the reopening process & others expressing concerns with Chau’s board certifications and basic qualifications.

Orange County community members deserve a Health Agency who will be independent from political pressure by friends to make hard decisions that are ultimately the best for public safety.

Dr Clayton Chau @ochealth needs to resign now. Enough is enough. The corruption needs to end.
