I know a lot of people are upset at the fact, that a lot of folk wanting independence are not prepared to sacrifice EVERYTHING to get it. Or are we? See as a logical thinker I have spent longer than I want to admit weighing everything up to arrive at where I am today.
Folk who really know me on here know how passionate I am about independence and the grief I’ve taken previously because of it. Anyhow I’ll share my musings on why I think the current leadership is selling us a pig in a poke! The main question which cost us independence in 2014
Was the currency question. Now we all know that to be truly independent we need our own currency, the unionists were unfortunately right when they said sharing sterling isn’t independence. Now if I know this, surely the leadership knows this? So why no movement on this issue?
It’s a key issue which will be brought up again, on that you can be sure. So what will we use?
We voted in a huge majority in 2015, according to what Margaret Thatcher said, that’s all we’d need to gain independence. 2017 we lost some seats due to tactical voting by unionists.
Prior to the 2019 vote I had a chat with an SNP MP re what about a plan B, a majority of seats is a mandate for independence, it’s still the people voting to decide. 🤷‍♀️ This proposal was brought up at conference and was binned.
All the emphasis has been put on a section 30! Only by Westminster agreeing to a sec 30 will we go ahead with a referendum, even though we currently have more mandates for a ref than you can shake a stick at! Whilst all our eyes have been on the independence carrot.
We have voted people into our parliament who have different agendas. The biggest elephant being this GRA and Self ID. A lot of women on and off of social media are aware of the real implications of this and are fighting hard for our rights, also those of children as their safety
Is also impacted by this bill. Whilst women are opposing it the new Hate crime bill has also come along, this will really impact on our ability to speak out regarding these issues as it may be construed as hate speech, though it appears we can be threatened, abused etc with no
recourse. Then we have the hanging out to dry of our previous First Minister and the heinous allegations made against him, of which he was found not guilty by a jury. Then sadly they’ve gone after him once more in the press and former colleagues have refused to release key
information for his inquiry! Yet we are to believe there is no conspiracy? Even Indy supporters who supported Alex Salmond are now saying he is wrong to seek answers as to why he was framed for sexual crimes he did not commit! Would you walk away from something like this?
I mean how could anyone do that to a man who has brought Scotland closer than anyone else to Independence and in so doing, igniting a national interest in politics like never before! Now my thoughts on all of this are now very strong and I hold back a lot when tweeting.
Very little will convince me that the current SNP are anything like the party Alex Salmond handed over in 2014! I was gobsmacked when I first saw Wings speak out against the SNP and the GRA but having since gone down that rabbit hole, I now understand exactly why he did.
There are sadly a lot of people in the party who have other agendas, none of them independence. So when folk keep telling me, “Indy first, we can sort the rest later”! I now want to go and smack my head off the nearest wall. I don’t believe the current leadership wants Indy.
I believe there are too many in the party with irons in the fire and sadly all are to do with sex based rights, in one way or another!! I mean WTF has happened to the party I supported, was a member of and believed in because it doesn’t exist to me anymore!!
I want independence as much as the next person but not at any cost, not to continue to lend my vote so that key individuals with hidden agendas can and will be voted in! I want a party who 100% wants independence, not offering empty promises to gain our votes, that we get from
Unionist parties at every election but it appears our main political arm is now employing these very same tactics and I cold bloody kick myself for not seeing it before!! We have chased the Indy carrot for 6 years, we now need more than just more of the same!!
