Sudha Murthy is the wife of co-founder of Infosys, Mr. N. R. Narayan Murthy. They both got married in the year 1978.
Sudha Murthy is mother to Rohan Murthy and Akshata Murthy.
Sudha Murthy stood first both in her B.Eng. in Electronics and M.Eng. in Computer Science and received Gold Medals from the Chief Minister of Karnataka and the Indian Institute of Engineers respectively.
Sudha Murthy became the First Female Engineer hired at India's largest auto manufacturer TELCO.
She joined the company as a Development Engineer in Pune and then worked in Mumbai and Jamshedpur as well.
In 1996, Sudha Murthy started Infosys Foundation through which she built 70,000 Libraries, 16,000 Public Toilets, provided Education to the Needy, Empowered Women, Emphasized on Healthcare, provided Money and Service during Natural Calamities.
Sudha Murthy has been honoured with awards like Padma Shri(2006), Best Teacher Award(1995), R.K.Narayan Award for Literature(2006), Attimabbe Award for her technical book on computers, Award for Excellent Social Service by Rotary South-Hubli and many more.
Sudha Murthy writes both fiction and non-fiction in English and Kannada. Her works have been translated into many languages.
Some of her books include Three Thousand Stitches; Here, There and Everywhere; Wise and Otherwise; Dollar Sose, Mahashweta, etc.
Sudha Murthy's hobbies comprises of voracious reading of about 200 to 250 pages daily, watching movies, spending time with her pet dog Gopi.
