My God! You guys are so blind to reality that you only see what you want to see, to the extent that you will fabricate a hypothesis in order to massage your ego to cling to some sort of dominance.

First, you predicted doom and gloom. You reminded us that our close links to China will be our downfall, and that your greatest 'concern' was our weaker health systems. We beat those odds.
Then, as you started to zoom into countries & regions (surprised you know Africa isn't a country!), you were quick to give backhanded compliments where cases had 'unexpectedly' slowed down. We left you to it and minded our business.
And still, as African countries continued to defy the odds, steadfast in the fight against the pandemic, you started to question the stats; a feat that you're so good at. I should have thought that by now you would've advocated to send in observers to report suspicious activities
Now here we are! After a barrage of nonsensical headlines, off target predictions, etc, you're settling down to a hypothesis that poverty might explain the 'mystery' of low deaths! How desperate must you be to ignore evidence infront of you? I shd probably lower my expectations!
Let me do you a favour and dissect what is glaringly obvious. It's never too late.

If u cared to notice, you'd know that most African nations listened to scientists & the risks of #Covid_19. As a result, early precautionary measures were taken, for instance, the case of #Rwanda
You will also remember that instead of going to the streets to protest about that which we didn't know, or resort to call it a hoax, we listened to the science, considered recommendations, and acted. You may have seen this:
Meanwhile, a stone's throw away from the BBC in London as recently as last weekend, protests against wearing masks 👇🏾 This, I'm convinced you expected it on the African continent! Better luck next time.
So BBC, there's no mystery. If you cared enough to look, you'd see clearly the measures that African countries have undertaken to combat the pandemic. Admittedly, like everyone else, we aren't out of the woods yet and are still battling LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
But personally I don't take kindly to folks like you who relentlessly portray Africa as a continent of unending horrors. The obsession to dismiss the good on the continent is pathetic and frankly, you ought to do better and stop insulting our intelligence. Africa isn't your lab!
