i& #39;m going to say the following as a fan of twenty one pilots who has also slightly waned in recent years, and a mental health/suicide awareness advocate.
thank you tyler joseph for raising awareness of america& #39;s national suicide awareness month. i hope you keep that same energy for world suicide awareness day on september 10th. but, using mental health as a scapegoat is not it and puts a huge damper on the actual cause.
you& #39;ve managed to completely undermine the hard work of organisations and a cause that has been happening since 2003 by suggesting its some sort of competition. sure, it& #39;s good to knuckle down on things you care about but the lack of awareness is astounding.
you& #39;re allowed to care about people in whole amounts. you& #39;re allowed to care about multiple causes. your platform tweet was insensitive. call it what it was. end of story. your following tweets come across as manipulative and gaslight-y.T
just because you have a platform, doesn& #39;t mean you have to use it, but you need to accept people will ask you to. it comes with the territory. it& #39;s okay to be human but the world is in chaos and seemingly telling your fans that doesn& #39;t matter to you is worse than staying silent.
