As we approach the release of The Sims 4 Journey To Batuu I& #39;d like to please implore the community to remember a few important things. EA Game Changers are NOT paid and are NOT told what to say. They play a similar role to the one I do as a journalist and reviewer. 1/?
They are given early access in exchange for producing some content giving their thoughts on the pack. This also means that their content about anything new should focus on the pack itself, not any other issues with the wider game. 2/?
If I was reviewing the new pack and started talking about things the base game is missing my editor would (rightly) refuse to publish it. This is the same. Content about the new pack will be about the new pack, not the lack of cars or open neighborhoods etc. 3/?
Game Changers (and Journalists like myself) are doing our jobs. I feel privileged to have been able to work with EA over the last year and at no time has anyone attempted to influence my views. I even asked SimGuruDuke in person about the Play With Life Campaign... 4/?
There are literally millions of TS4 players. We won& #39;t all like the same things and that& #39;s ok. What isn& #39;t ok is being abusive towards Gurus or game changers who don& #39;t agree with you. Expressing disappointment in a theme is fine. Saying a pack isn& #39;t for you is fine. 6/?
But there is a huge difference between saying "I think this pack sucks" or "I have these issues with the content" and saying to Gurus "why did you make this? why don& #39;t we have x,y,z instead? why are you ripping us off? money grabbers, no one wants this, you suck. etc" 7/?
Or saying to Game Changers "you only like this because you get the pack free, you are being paid to say that, you just kiss ass because you want to go to sims camp." News flash. They aren& #39;t paid, they aren& #39;t told what to say and the abuse they get is absolutely despicable. 8/?
Guess what? I get early access and free content in exchange for writing about the game. It& #39;s all declared right at the end of my articles, just as GCers declare the same thing. Yet I& #39;ve never had the abuse they get. We literally do the same job just in a different way. 9/10
Gurus, Game Changers, Game Journalists/Reviewers. We all love games, have opinions, and are proud of our work. None of us deserve to be abused. Speak about content, NOT content creators and people will listen. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. 10/10
