How will Rodriguez, Allan and Doucoure revamp Everton’s attack? (Thread) 💭

Everton looks to have done a great job in the transfer window with these 3 signings, bringing in players in areas that needed strengthening.

What does it mean for Everton in FPL and their attack? ⤵️
Formation change❓

With these additions I think there has to and will be a formation change. The 4-4-2 that Ancelotti has used isn’t used by many modern teams these days and it felt like it did become very predictable and the creativity in attack wasn’t there at the end of...
the season. With Everton bringing in 3 quality central midfielders, I think Ancelotti will go for a different formation this season because it just wouldn’t make sense otherwise with the combination of how bad they looked at the end of the season and their 3 new signings. 🤷🏼‍♂️
I predict Ancelotti to line-up in the same formation that he used for the majority of his time in Bayern Munich together with James Rodriguez for his time there which is the 4-2-3-1 or the 4-3-3 (whatever you want to call it):
Obviously he might experiment with some different formations, maybe trying to get Gomes, Kean, Bernard, Iwobi, Davies and Sigurdsson involved in some games but for now this is sort of how I believe they will start in GW1. ✅
How will these 3 central midfielders help Everton in attack❓

Well, I mentioned it earlier but it was obvious, especially towards the later stages of the season that Everton needed central mids that could connect key passes and through balls to the strikers.

The stats...
show this with Norwich and Crystal palace being the only team that created less big chances than Everton since the restart.

Gomes, Davies and Sigurdsson were the 3 central mids that played since the restart and none of them averaged over 0.7 key passes per game... 🚫
Therefore I believe James Rodríguez is actually exactly what Ancelotti and Everton needs, and even though he is injury prone, he showed that in Bayern Munich in 18/19 he is still an incredible player.

He scored 7 goals and 3 assists in 13 starts while averaging 2.7 key...
passes and creating 8 big chances. Of course he played for the best team in the league which may have contributed to those stats but he plays a play style which no player at Everton currently offers.

This feels like it will be great for DCL. Playing alone up top with...
Rodriguez behind him could be a mini version of the impact that the Bruno Fernandes arrival had on Martial. I am not comparing DCL to Martial in any way quality-wise but you may get my point.

For Richarlison however this maybe lessens his appeal being moved to a winger spot...
where he played the majority of the 18/19 season.

Comparing his 18/19 season to his 19/20 season they are very similar on face value with Richarlison scoring 13 goals in both seasons but when you look at underlying stats you can see that Richarlison’s creativity massively...
improved when he played as a striker, creating 13 big chances in 19/20 compared to 2 big chances in 18/19

Having not really mentioned what Allan and Doucoure will help with so far, they are also a much needed improvement compared to Gomes, Davies and Sigurdsson not only when...
it comes to winning the ball back but also in attack. Allan and Doucoure averaged 0.7 and 1.0 key passes respectively last season but looking at their defensive numbers we can also see that they will be tackling and bringing the ball back into Everton’s possession a lot more...
than before. This was a problem that Everton has had ever since Gueye left to PSG.

Allan and Doucoure averaged 2.2 and 1.7 tackles per game last season. Comparing that to the Everton midfielders, Gomes averaged the highest amount of tackles with 0.8 per...
game. That is a massive difference that should help Everton getting the ball back more often, getting the ball into attacking spaces quicker and help out their defense.
