Two maritime incidents overnight

GULF LIVESTOCK 1 livestock carrier sank on Sept 1st, 2020 with 5,800 cows and 43 crew members in in East China Sea after leaving New Zealand. One surviving crew member found last night by Japan's Coast Guard.

Engine room fire aboard VLCC supertanker NEW DIAMOND 35nm east of Sri Lanka. 2M barrels of Kuwaiti oil aboard for Paradip, India. An injured crew member has been taken to shore by Sri Lanka's Navy, which quickly dispatched vessels due to risk of oil spill.

Regarding the GULF LIVESTOCK 1 vessel which sank, it was due to the Typhoon Maysak.

It also seems that the 2 million barrel supertanker has stopped pinging over AIS. The electronics could be damaged or (most likely) power has been switched off for safety reasons. By the looks of it, the vessel may have drifted some 18NM SW. See all the blue tug boats there?
