We went for a wheelchair run outside and it was... Interesting, oh lord was it interesting. I mean, not at all surprising but still, all the issues we faced will take some time to, uhh, adjust to. Wheelchair good, the world? Bad lol.
brief pic in thread, would have taken more but we& #39;d encountered unforseen dog doo... I& #39;ll get to that bit :P the pavements were an experience, ours are very cracked and often have an incredibly rough surface, so my legs and arse felt like they were sat atop a washing machine 1/?
We couldn& #39;t find any proper drop curbs, there& #39;s the bits of pavement that have sunk or been created for people& #39;s driveways, but you can& #39;t easily get from one side of the road to the other, and we had to cross on blind corners. 2/?
Many cars and large vans were parked on the pavements, so we had to either turn back or wheel onto the road itself and go round them, which did not feel safe at all. We went down a footpath that goes to a nature bit and the path was very littered with dog poop 3/?
Dog walkers were ok and moved to the side to let us past, but one lady talked only to Tess and not the both of us. Dogs were cute tho, and the grandpa dog walker was nice to both of us. The path we wanted to take was blocked by a vehical barrier; nabbed this img off Google 4/6
I tried a bit of self wheeling, however I didn& #39;t realise at the time the wheels were covered in dog doo, so the sleeves of my hoodie and my hands got covered when propelling myself. I& #39;d found out when I took my phone out my pocket, going & #39;wtf is that smear on my phone& #39; :P 5/6
And that is when we decided to scarper home and immediately change clothes lmao 6/6
I should add, I still love my chair and I could actually go outside without as many physical consequences, like crawling up the stairs on my jelly legs to the bedroom to collapse and groan for hours to days afterwards lmao. I just wish the world was more accessible y& #39;know?
