Dakshayani Velayudhan
Was the first Dalit women graduate and the only Dalit female member of the constituent assembly. She was born on July 4,1912 in cochin and was the leader of "Depressed classes" she sided with Ambedkar on many issues related to the Scheduled Caste community.
Begum Aizaz Rasul
She was the only female muslim member of the constituent assembly. She joined Muslim League & entered electoral politics & was elected to legislative assembly. Later after Muslim League was dissolved she joined Congress & served as minister for minority welfare.
Ammu Swaminathan
She was born in an upper caste Hindu family in Kerala and formed women welfare association in 1917 in Madras. She was a firm believer in providing women's with equal rights, she became part of the Constituent Assembly from the Madras Constituency in 1946.
Hansa Jivraj Mehta
Was born on July 3, 1897, studied sociology & journalism from London and then returned back to India, was one of the female member of constituent assembly. She was an educator as well a social activist. She lent her support to Dr. Ambedkar on Hindu code bill.
Durgabai Deshmukh
She was born on 15 July 1909 and since her very early age she started participating like Non cooperation movement & Salt Satyagraha. She established the Andhra Mahila Sabha, was the Chairwoman of National Council for Women’s Education and National Committee.
Malati Choudhury
She was born on July 26, 1904 and was the first women Marxist leader in India. Her family was rich with politicians and she was married to Nabakrusha Choudhuri who later became CM of Odisha. She played a central role in peasant uprising in Odisha in 1930's.
Leela Roy
She was born in October 1920, Shiva assistant secretary to "All Bengal women's suffrage committee", which worked for women rights. She played a active role in anti salt movement, later she joined Congress and founded "Congress women's organisation".
Purnima Banerjee
She was secretary for the "Indian national Congress city committee Allahabad". She was a Marxist and propagated the ideology of socialism. She was arrested for her participation in Quit India movement & Satyagraha, she worked towards greater rural engagements.
Sarojini Naidu
Popular known as "The Nightingale" was born on Feb 13, 1879, she was the first female to be appointed as the President of INC. Her anti British activities landed her in jail for many times. She was a literature buff and was elected to "Royal society of literature".
Rajkumari Amrit Kaur
She was born on 2 Feb,1889, she completed her education from England and returning Indian she held the post of health minister for 10 yrs. She was the founder of AIIMS. She was a firm believer of women's right and education.
Renuka Ray
She was the daughter of social activist and AIWC member Charulata Mukherjee. She studied in London School of Economics. She was the. Member of constituent assembly and also served as minister for relief and rehabilitation.
She also become president of AIWC in 1952.
Sucheta Kriplani
She he was the first women chief minister in country (UP). She established the women's wing of Congress party and also served as a minister of labour in Uttar Pradesh government. She also took part in Quit India movement and other freedom struggles.
Anne Mascarene
She was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala was the first woman to join Travancore state Congress committee. She was the first woman MP to be elected from Kerala, she was the one of the leader of movement of independence from the region.
Vijayalakshmi Pandit
She was born August 18,1900 when was the sister of prime minister Nehru. She was an important leader of the freedom struggle, the first ever women to be elected as cabinet minister in United province Assembly, she also took part in various freedom struggles.
Kamala Choudhury
She was the president of "All India Congress working committee"and also the member of Lok Sabha. She was a writer and her writings usually depicted the state of women in the society, she worked for women upliftment and was active member of independence struggle.
