Race organizers have spent so much energy in making mountain Stages crazier. they picked the wrong battles in my opinion. No rider in the tour has energy to throw away in a suicidal 190k head wind stage with the sprinters teams controling you at 2min all day.
All team are structured with a GC and / or sprinters leader
Tv is exposure is great, but performance is also important. What about making stages shorter? Give the breakaway a chance? No need to add gravel , cobbles, crazy extremely exposed finals that would only
Create more race stress but not more excitement . What about adding more green jersey points on flat stages at intermediate? Some kind of bonus points? Or even bringing in a breakaway classification? Not sure what the solution is, i am just sharing some thoughts. Don’t get me
Wrong i loved my 2h of chat in the bunch cruising at 45k\\h and the last 25k were a great typical sprint finish with the fighting for positioning, the lead out trains , the high speed. I am also aware that sprinting after 120/140k is not the same than after 190 .
But I believe it could be a moment to rethink things. Am i in the wrong? Anyone else think like me? Or are we all happy with easier “transition days”. To end with some humor, We are on personalized plates with klcal count, Only get half mi dinner with a stage like that (😂joking)
